A breath of fresh air

I thought I was going to be really good about this blog thing, and I could never understand why anyone would give up an opportunity to talk about themselves, but now I understand.  Life happens.  I'm sitting here with an open Psychology book (can you believe I will have read over 700 pages of textbook by the end of this class?!?!), procrastinating as always.  I have mastered *new term here people* "quality minimal effort."  I have found my calling as a student.

In between work, school, and homework we found some time to visit with our good friends Tony and Jamie, who were in Washington to visit Tony's family.  It was so nice to just be able to smell the Utah air on their jackets, and spend time with some "old" friends.  We took them to Pike's Place Market, where we (in fashion of poor college students everywhere) walked a lot.  I think there was fish and chips and some delicious ice cream in there somewhere, but leave it to the four of us to have fun whilst doing absolutely nothing.

I love her!

And if he so happens to be reading this . . . Tony, you win, you were right about the shoes (picture posted for proof).

Other than that, nothing new has happened.  We promise to be a little more exciting this summer!

Sleep deprived

Since Andrew is sick of listening to me rant about how annoying it is to be woken up at 7:30 every morning by construction trucks, leaf blowers, workers yelling at each other, people on a ladder right outside our window, lawn mowers, garbage trucks, etc., I'd thought I'd try a new crowd.  Apparently the only time anything can get done is at 7:30 in the morning.  I come home from school in the late morning, and everything is peaceful (kind of).  We have a bet going that Ray and Marcia's neighbors are going to start a huge renovation the day after we move in.  It would be like unto our past luck.  In our first apartment, our window sat perpendicular to the alley in between the other complex.  In the winter it would freeze over and cars had a hard time going through.  At all hours of the morning you would hear little cars try as they might to get over the snow, but to no avail.  It was not uncommon for us both to wake out of a dead sleep and giggle as we listened to them try.  I also wonder, how can so many car alarms go off in one area?  I mean, I don't think I had ever heard a car alarm (except for when I wanted to be mean to my mom) before I moved into apartments.  I just don't get it.

Also, we used to have a beautiful Cherry Blossom tree right outside our window, and now we have this:

Seriously?  Fail.

So because I was up until 1:30 this morning filling out job applications, and then woke up at 8 to get ready for school, and as soon as I was getting ready to walk out the door, I realized that my class doesn't actually start until 10:30, and I set my alarm an hour earlier than I needed to; I'm not in the best mood.  And to top that, I just inputed a run on sentence.  So to quote one of my favorite movies, "When life gives you lemons, just say $%& the lemons and bail."

School, school, and more school!

By the second week into the quarter, we are in the full swing of things!  I sometimes find myself wondering if there will come a day when we aren't in school?  Yes, there will, but until then, I will continue my wonderment.  Andrew is sitting next to me in the computer lab at school, listening to White Rabbits and reading about the First Ammendment.  I am obviously keeping busy doing worthwhile things as well.  I have placed my paper, readings, quiz, and homework (all of which are due tomorrow, of course) on the back burner for now.  Sometimes I wish that burner was on fire, so it would leave my schedule like the black smoke it is.  Speaking of black smoke . . . LOST this week was AMAZING!  I think questions are finally going to get answered.  Not to mention, we are SO excited some of our favorite characters are back on the show, even if only in an alternate reality.  If you like Lost, you should also check out Flash Forward.  Charlie and Penny (from Lost) are in that show as two of the main characters.

When I'm not thinking about what Charles Whitmore knows that we don't, I am delving into my psychology classes, and have taken quite an interest in diagnosing myself with mental disorders.  So far, I have symptoms of OCD and a few different personality disorders.

We are nearing our move into our first house . . . the house Andrew grew up in, here in Washington.  Yes, you heard me right.  We're moving in with Ray and Marcia, Andrew's parents, probably until this year.  Would you believe me if I said I was actually kind of looking forward to it?  Would I sound even more lame if I said I would sometimes rather go on double dates with his parents than other couples our age?  I got really lucky with the family I married into.  Well, I'm starting to have daydreams about the Geico commercials . . . but I'm not seeing money, I'm seeing homework.  Does that mean I have symptoms of schizophrenia too?!

First post!  Wow, this is a big step.  This past week has been hectic!  We started a new quarter, and have been trying to adjust back to a school schedule.  Spring break was kind to us.  We had fun, stayed up a little too late, but we were able to rest and re-coop.  I just recently changed my major to Psychology (and I'm thinking about double majoring in Sociology) and I am loving my classes!  I am also taking a choir class this quarter!  I can't believe I allowed myself to go this long without scheduling time for singing.  What a great feeling it was to sit and sight read new music on Monday!  I'm taking GOSPEL CHOIR!  There will be lots of hollering, hooting, and clapping, but it's a blast!  To hear one of the songs we're singing, check out this link! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6rSc0gtdUk&feature=related  Andrew started a new job this week, and he is loving it!  He's working on campus, and he's able to do homework during the slow times, for which he is grateful.  His teachers all seem to think their class is the only class, and have assigned the equivalency of 5 Harry Potter books for him to read this quarter.  He only wishes the material he was reading was something like HP.  He gets to learn about American Revolution instead.  That's it for now!  Off to start packing.
